Why do we hold Post Prom?

...To Keep Our Teens Safe!

Since our first event, April 23, 1999, Post Prom provides all MHS Junior and Senior students and their prom dates a free, all-night, fun, safe, alcohol-free and drug-free celebration after the prom. Methacton Post Prom provides a great alternative to potentially dangerous situations on one of the riskiest nights in the life of a teen.

The Dangers of Prom Night

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), one in three children under age 21, who died in alcohol-related accidents, died during prom and graduation season.  For the past several years during prom weekend, approximately 300 teens have died in alcohol-related car accidents.  Prom night is a risky night in the life of a teen…drinking and driving and other risky behaviors can occur.

  • Teen traffic deaths during prom season are higher than any other time of the year.
  • 1 in 3 people under age 21 who died in alcohol related accidents died during prom and graduation season (per National Highway Traffic Safety Administration/NHTSA.)
