How to Get Clearances

  • Most positions require that you are 25 years old or older to sign up. There are some exceptions and those are noted on the sign up form. 
  • If your position does not require Clearances, (Community Walkthrough, Set Design, Setup & Cleanup), you still need to complete the Raptor Volunteer application. See "How to apply if Clearances are NOT required" below.
  • Volunteer Positions that are during the Post Prom event require Clearances since students will be present. You must follow all the steps in the "How to apply for Full Clearances" below!

How to apply if Clearances are NOT required

Community Walkthrough, Set Design, Setup & Cleanup volunteers ONLY!
You do not need clearances, but must still complete a "Raptor Volunteer Application"
You only have to do this one time! (So if you already did this in the past, you're good to go! Sign up for a Post Prom position right now!)

  1. Go to the Methacton Volunteer Page 
  2. Under the "Position Volunteer" section, expand the "Application Requirements" section.
  3. Scroll down to the bottom of that list and look for "All volunteers must sign and upload the Volunteer Release and Waiver Form" - you'll need this during the next step!
  4. Click the "online Raptor Volunteer Application" link or "Volunteer Application" button.
  5. Complete the steps there.
  6. Come back here to the Post Prom site and Sign Up for a position (or two)!

How to apply for Full Clearances

For any position where students will be present!
You will need clearances AND complete a "Raptor Volunteer Application" 
You will need to do this one time every 5 years.

  • You should start this process no later than 2 weeks before Post Prom because it can take up to two weeks to get some of the results. 
  • There is no cost to do this (unless you have not lived in Pennsylvania for at least 10 years). 
  • If you have already done this within the past 5 years, you do not need to do it again until 5 years have passed. 
  • Some important things to keep in mind before you start your clearance process:
    • As a Post Prom volunteer, you are considered a "Position Volunteer" (not a "Guest Volunteer") for the clearance process.
    • As a Post Prom volunteer, you are eligible to submit a TB Test Waiver allowing you to forgo a TB test (more information below).
  • Get Clearances! You will need to complete the following 4 steps BEFORE creating a Raptor account! 
    1. Go to the Methacton Volunteer Page 
    2. Under the "Position Volunteer" section, expand the "Application Requirements" section.
    3. Click each link in that section to complete these requirements:
      1. Receive Act 34 - Pennsylvania Criminal History Background Check (Free for Volunteers)
      2. Receive Act 151 - Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (One free clearance for every 5 years for volunteers)
      3. Submit ONE of the following:
        • Complete Act 114: FBI Criminal Clearance Report. This costs $23.25. (Choose this *ONLY* if you have NOT lived in Pennsylvania for the last 10 consecutive years) 
        • OR: Volunteer Affirmation Form (Choose this if you have lived in Pennsylvania for 10 or more consecutive years)
      4. Submit the TB Test Waiver - As a Post Prom volunteer, you are not required to get a test.
      5. Look for "All volunteers must sign and upload the Volunteer Release and Waiver Form- you'll need this during the next step!
  • ONLY AFTER you have completed all the steps above
    • You will need the results of all the steps above to create your Raptor account, so do the steps above first!
    1. Go back to the Methacton Volunteer page 
    2. Under the "Position Volunteer" section, expand the "Application Requirements" section
    3. Scroll down to the bottom of that list and look for "All volunteers must sign and upload the Volunteer Release and Waiver Form" - you'll need this during the next step!
    4. Click the "online Raptor Volunteer Application" link or "Volunteer Application" button.
    5. Complete the steps there.
    6. Come back here to the Post Prom site and Sign Up for a position (or two)!
